What to pack for a one-day Sahyadri trek
The short list we send before every trek, and why each item is on it.

Every Travel Firse brochure ends with the same list. It is short on purpose: one backpack, nothing you will regret carrying up a wet laterite step at 7 am.
The mandatory four
- Shoes with real grip. Trekking shoes or sports shoes. Monsoon rock is slippery; flat-soled sneakers are how ankles get twisted.
- 2–3 litres of water. There is no shop on most trails. Carry it in bottles, not one heavy can.
- A torch or headlamp. Night treks like Kalsubai and Harishchandragad start in the dark, and even day treks can run late.
- An identity card. Forest check-posts and some entry points ask for it.
Wear, don’t carry
Dry-fit full-length track pants and a full-sleeve T-shirt. They dry fast, protect you from thorns and leeches, and keep the sun off. Keep jeans for the drive home.
In the bag
- Raincoat, poncho or windcheater. Avoid umbrellas: you need both hands on the trail.
- An extra pair of clothes, socks and footwear. The ride back to Pune is long.
- Ready-to-eat snacks, plus your personal medicines.
- A jacket for summit nights on Kalsubai or Harishchandragad.
- A cap and sunglasses for the post-monsoon sun.
Leave behind
Sling bags (they swing and pull you off balance), anything plastic you are not taking back down, and loud speakers. Our rules say no alcohol, no smoking and no loud music on any trek.
Each trek page has its own tickable list, which you can print.
